Instruction

Joining our school district's charge to increase student learning, Lakewood Elementary has dedicated itself to ensure that all students have the skills and knowledge to be independent learners, and that they are prepared to succeed at the next level of learning. Students will also be successful at meaningful, relevant, and significant endeavors so that they may be contributors to society. With these tasks ahead of us, Lakewood Elementary has developed an Increasing Student Learning Plan:

  1. We will determine the achievement levels of each student at the beginning of the year.
  2. We will determine the academic achievement of each student at the end of the school year.
  3. We will design and implement instruction to move students forward on the continuum of achievement standards.
  4. We will implement the early literacy model to increase student performance in reading and writing.
  5. We will inform and involve parents and the community in increasing student learning.
  6. We will establish and assess understanding of teacher responsibilities.
